Tomato Paste

For the life of me, I am unable to define the core value or concept of the new economic policy in Libya or the direction it is headed. The first thing the Libyan Legna Shabia Aama (Prime Minster Government) did about the new economy was to lift the subsidy on food products such as cooking oil, milk and tomato paste. Way to go reformer! I have always known from living in the west that the easiest changes the government can make are the ones that affect the poorest of the poor, and Libya is no different.

Libya and the TWO

I have a problem with Libya becoming part of the WTO due to many factors and here are some of them:

1) We need to be a production nation to take advantage of the GAAT articles; otherwise we are merely a marketplace.

2) No more preferential trade treatment for Arabic countries such as Egypt or Tunisia as you need to extend the same privileges to all others such as Israel.

3) Shouldn't we go in there based on economic reasons first.

4) Being part of the WTO is not a political gain.
