Eminent panel

Your editorial did not include the most vital points, such as that Palestinians are human beings who were driven out of their homes through no fault of their own. The panel responsible for the damaging report to Israel was made up of Judge Karl Hudson-Phillips, retired judge of the International Criminal Court, Sir Desmond de Silva, of the U.K., and Mary Shanthi Dairiam, founding member of the International Women's Rights Action Watch. This panel is as credible as it gets and in its 56-page report, pointed out many facts about the assault on the ship that show: "wilful killing, torture or inhuman treatment, wilfully causing great suffering or serious injury to body or health."
One of the many horrific details outlined in the report is the killing of Furkan Dogan, a 19-year-old U.S. citizen who was murdered when "hit with live fire" on the central area of the top deck as he was "filming with a small video camera." Although there is overwhelming evidence that Israel has committed crimes against humanity, the point of these ships is to break the illegal blockade of Gaza. Defenceless Palestinians live under illegal occupation and are punished for what international law clearly gives them -- a right to self-defence.
